CA EDD is now providing direct deposit as an option

The EDD is now offering its unemployment, disability, and Paid Family Leave benefit customers the option of direct deposit to receive their benefit payments. This method ensures safe, fast, and convenient payment, as the payments are automatically deposited into the individual's personal bank account.

Introducing direct deposit aligns with EDD's commitment to modernizing and improving customer experiences. It aims to provide customers with a secure and convenient way to access the benefit payments they need.

Enrolling in direct deposit is a simple process for EDD customers. They can set up a myEDD account and update their preferred payment option within UI Online for unemployment benefits or SDI Online for disability or Paid Family Leave benefits. New customers can select direct deposit when applying for benefits online.

In addition to direct deposit, EDD customers can receive their benefit payments via prepaid debit cards or mailed checks. These options allow customers to select the payment method that best suits their individual needs. Once again, we want to remind people that direct deposit is an option, customers can still get their payments through a debit card and via mailed checks if they prefer to do so.
