FRESNO, CA-- As the nation is quickly adapting to the virtual world, African Americans throughout California are still finding ways to stay connected and keep people informed about important issues, protests and the Juneteenth holiday.

As festivals and events over 200 people were cancelled throughout California due to COVID-19 concerns and state compliance, event organizers, promoters, and performers scrambled to figure out an alternative plan--especially for the June holiday, Juneteenth.

In the Central Valley, from Kern County to Sacramento County, virtual Juneteenth celebrations commenced through the virtual world, allowing communities to celebrate together the expressions of the holiday online.

The African-American Historical and Cultural Museum of the San Joaquin Valley (AAHCMSJV) partnered with several Black organizations and Black media from throughout California to feature three major virtual events in less than 90 days, with the help of funding from the Sierra Health Foundation, San Joaquin Valley Health Fund, and the 2020 Census Tulare & Merced Complete Count Committees. From town halls to virtual Juneteenth and Jazz and Blues festivals, AAHCMSJV featured various Black community leaders and

advocates from throughout the Central Valley, (see below footage or on TV this weekend.).

As a media partner, the ONME Network captured the Fresno, CA Juenteeth special featuring all of the Black organizations and a 100 Black Men march in early June in Fresno, CA.
