FRESNO, CA – Mayor Jerry Dyer and Councilmember Miguel Arias announced the second Beautify Fresno “Neighborhood Blitz” revitalization project, taking place in the North Avenue Neighborhood starting from Thursday, March 25 through Saturday, March 27 in southwest Fresno. More than 100 volunteers are expected to attend the volunteer cleanup portion of the event on Saturday.

The Mayor’s Neighborhood Blitz program is designed to repair and revitalize selected Fresno neighborhoods including but not limited to tree trimming, street and sidewalk repairs, curb painting and graffiti abatement within a 1-2 day period.

City crews performed this work in the area around the Mary Ella Brown Community Center, the West Fresno Elementary and Middle Schools, and the surrounding neighborhood on March 25 and 26.

Beautify Fresno volunteers will meet at the community center the following day, Saturday, March 27, beginning at 9:30 a.m. for a neighborhood cleanup that will take place from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

The project is sponsored by Beautify Fresno, District 3 Councilmember Miguel Arias, and Clean Fresno.

Beautify Fresno will follow guidance from national advisors at Keep America Beautiful, as well as all health and safety protocols from the CDC and the Fresno County Department of Public Health. Safety vests, paper pickers, gloves and trash bags, along with pre-packaged snacks and bottled water will be provided to volunteers.
