Leaders and organizations speak out against racism and the recent local and national police brutality incidents against African Americans

On Friday morning, June 19, Black organizations from throughout Fresno, CA came to the Fresno EOC Local Conversation Corps located at the Reverend Swillis Neighborhood Youth Center, on 1805 E. California Ave., in Fresno, CA to educate the public, especially on the Juneteenth holiday. The ONME Network and CMAC,simulcast the live press conference online and on TV.
Rising Star Baptist Church Pastor B.T. Lewis felt it was necessary to educate the Central Valley community about the longtime works and efforts of these organizations continually on the battle grounds to fight racism and discrimination against African Americans.
“These are the leaders of organizations and movements in our city that labor daily against the racism and prejudice deeply rooted in the fabric and consciousness of people in our community and the systems, institutions, and policies that govern us,” said Lewis. "Our mayor, our mayor-elect, and others in leadership in our city and in our county can a-test to the fact that these leaders set the tone for effecting change and community response to a consistent trend of injustice and inequity in the legacy systems, institutions, and policies that govern day to day life as an African American in Fresno."
Each leader spoke for 45 seconds to present their name, the name of their organization, their statement against racism, and their vision and their organization’s vision for building a community of righteousness, justice, equality, and a better quality of life for African Americans in our community.
