FRESNO, CA --Sloane Stephens, 24, has won her first major at the 2017 U.S. Open tennis tournament against opponent, Madison Keys, 22 in the women's singles final last, Saturday, Sept. 9th in New York.

As the lowest ranked player (83rd) to ever win the women's singles title and the first American woman outside the Williams sisters to win a Slam since Jennifer Capriati in 2002, Grand-Slam champion Stephens made an incredible combeback after sitting out 11 months after foot surgery due to a stress fracture.

Stephens, who holds a career-high singles ranking of world No. 11 and is currently ranked world No. 17 as of September 12, 2017, has won six career singles titles .

She started playing tennis at the age of nine, at the Sierra Sport and Racquet Club, in Fresno, California, where her mother and stepfather introduced her to the sport. Two years later Stephens relocated from Fresno to Boca Raton, Florida, where she began training at the prestigious Evert Tennis Academy.

Stehens career earnings of $4.5 million, now soarst over $8m after she collected a $3.7 million winners check. She also stands to make millions more in endorsement deals and appearances
