In this Juneteenth video four-part series broadcast, week one, ONME video podcast show hosts, Ken McCoy, Joquoya Murphy, Julia Dudley Najieb, and Jordan Murphy welcome viewers to the first episode of an historic Juneteenth celebration, A 2021 CA Virtual Juneteenth: Celebrating Black Excellence.


The episode-one video is broken into chapters for easy viewing for online audiences.


Some of the highlights featured in this episode include: a riveting Lift Every Voice and Sing performed by the legendary jazz and blues artists, Ed Burke with Joe Boy Walton on the guitar, intertwined with short excerpts from California Attorney General Rob Bonta, Gov. Gavin Newsom, Dr. Shirley Weber, Senator Steve Bradford, Assemblymember Jones-Sawyer, and the late U.S. Representative John R. Lewis; Fresno Pacific University Dr. Joseph Jones shares his candid thoughts on the importance of celebrating Juneteenth and celebrating Black excellence; Fresno Pacific University Black Grads are highlighted for their endeavors; learn the brief the history of Juneteenth followed by an excerpt of U.S. President Joe Biden's history speech signing into law as a federal holiday; watch excerpts from community leaders on their thoughts on Juneteenth (Pastors B.T. Lewis, Dr. Paul Binion, and AAHCMSJV Board Chair Gregory Melancon); college students and professors in Southern California from Cal State Fullerton discuss what Juneteenth means to them; hear from community representatives on police brutality; learn about the Buffalo Soldiers sponsored Merced County; learn about the Reparations Task Force; watch special Bay Area Black Grad presentation featuring San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo, Vice Mayor Charles Chappie Jones and NBA basketball player Stephen Curry sponsored by PG & E.


The celebration, A 2021 CA Virtual Juneteenth: Celebrating Black Excellence, is to continue this week with the next episode two broadcasting on TV and online this Saturday, June 26, 2021.
