ONR 1-07-21: Najieb reports on the insurrection at the nation's capitol and its affect on California

United States Att. McGregor W. Scott confirms the difference between a peaceful assembly versus the obstruction of justice

By ONME Newswire

Producer host Julia Dudley Najieb reviews the insurrection incident that happened at the nation's capitol on January 6--it was supposed to be another ordinary, ceremonial, certification process of the final votes from the 2020 Presidential Elections. Instead, some Trump supporters turned rioters destroyed the building and property in a fanatical rage.

The affects of the insurrection also affected California; there were also incidents here, some peaceful, but Los Angeles County and other places, had a different story of protesters clashing with opposing groups and Black Lives Matter supporters and protesters.

United States Att. McGregor W. Scott assured Californians that there will be consequences for peoples' unruly action on the nation's capitol Jan. 6.

“Yesterday, our Nation watched in disbelief as a mob breached the Capitol Building and required federal and local law enforcement to help restore order," said Scott.

"The Department of Justice is committed to ensuring that those responsible for this attack on our Government and the rule of law face the full consequences of their actions under the law. Our criminal prosecutors have been working throughout the night with special agents and investigators from the U.S. Capitol Police, FBI, ATF, Metropolitan Police Department and the public to gather the evidence, identify perpetrators, and charge federal crimes where warranted. Some participants in yesterday’s violence will be charged today, and we will continue to methodically assess evidence, charge crimes and make arrests in the coming days and weeks to ensure that those responsible are held accountable under the law.”
