Four new cases of COVID-19 in Tulare County

ONME Newsw

The Tulare County Public Health Branch has announced four new cases of positive COVID-19 tests in Tulare County bringing the total to 11. The Public Health branch is currently conducting an investigation on each case. The individuals were all either contacts to other confirmed cases or travelers. All the individuals are currently at home under self-isolation.

During the course of the investigations Public Health nursing staff work to identify all individuals who may have come into contact with the positive cases, ensure they are self-quarantining, and monitor their health. The nursing staff check in with all the close contact individuals to monitor symptoms. They are tested if they become symptomatic. Through this process of contact investigation, we can expect to find more cases.

“It’s important at this time that our community heed the governors order to shelter-at-home and ensure they’re only leaving their homes to access essential services,” states Dr. Karen Haught, County Health Officer. “We are wishing all our positive cases a swift recovery.”

Tulare County HHSA continues to urge individuals to monitor your health closely.

  • Avoid all non-essential gatherings

  • If you are ill, stay home

  • If you are a member of a vulnerable population, stay home as much as possible

  • Practice social distancing

  • Practice good hand and environment hygiene

  • If you are a person who has traveled outside the county or country, please call 2-1-1 to find about the potential need to self-quarantine

  • Please call 2-1-1 if you have the symptoms of COVID-19, such as

  • Fever Cough Inability to take in a deep breath Other lower respiratory symptoms

  • Community members with urgent questions about or symptoms of COVID-19 in Tulare County can call 2-1-1 to be connected to the information and resource hotline.

If you are a member of our senior population, over 65 years of age, and you need assistance with questions and resources, please contact K/T AAA at 1-800-321-2462 or online at www.ktaaa.org.

Please note that although testing for COVID-19 is occurring at the Tulare County Public Health Lab, all results are only available through the testing physician.
