City of Fresno leaders celebrate the reopening of Granite Park

FRESNO, CA – A ceremony was held on Saturday morning to celebrate the reopening of Granite Park located at N. Cedar Ave., between Ashlan & Dakota Avenues. The ball fields at the 20-acre sports have been renovated as part of an overall redevelopment of the site.

After years of sitting dormant, the Granite Park complex has come back to life; developers Terance Frazier and T.J. Cox, of the Central Valley Community Sports Foundation have leased the property from the City of Fresno to provide a sports complex to be used by community sports leagues and the public.

Mayor Lee Brand, City Manager Bruce Rudd, City Councilman Paul Caprioglio, Frazier and Cox all made remarks about the long road and challenges of getting the park back open, and they threw out a ceremonial first pitch with a softball game that followed.
